Wandering 2019

wan·der·er

Dictionary result for wanderer

/ˈwändərər/noun

  1. a person who travels aimlessly; a traveler.

For some its not aimless wandering but wandering with a purpose, to explore and experience outside of what you know or your familiar with!

So such is us as we took off for 3 months on our first long journey away from home.

Our first realization was this is NOT a vacation so the first thing is to NOT be in vacation mode. It has to be home mode -some days doing the mundane (laundry, planning and bill paying), some days site seeing and experiencing the area we are in and other days hanging out, socializing with neighbors, friends and new found friends.

There are many other things we have learned along the road since leaving our home. The next most important realization (or perhaps THE first most important) was we were not on a voyage to see “things” or “places” (although we did) – we were on a voyage to connect with friends who we do not see often as we are separated by miles but who are precious to us! Saying good-bye was sad but the time we had, the sharing of life even for a brief time was what is treasured!

More to come………….
